Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT-NICU)
Location
- Fredericksburg, Virginia
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 07:30)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend plus every other holiday
- On-call requirement: Potential for mandatory on-call shifts (approximately 2 shifts per month)
- Floating required within scope to ER, Adult ICU Stepdown, pediatric unit, and floors
- Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion
Job Description
- Position requires a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and adult respiratory experience
- Must be able to float to Emergency Room (ER) and Adult ICU Stepdown units
- Assignments include NICU, adult critical care, ER, pediatric unit, and community hospital settings
- Responsibilities include airway management, medication administration, arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and analysis, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments
- Night shift duties include aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies
- Experience preferred in NICU, ED, adult ICU, and level 2 trauma care
- Attendance at monthly department meetings required (or acknowledgment of meeting minutes if not working)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience working with adult patients
- Experience in an acute care setting
- Proficient in airway management
