Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Description
- Large volume, high census facility with a diverse patient population.
- Focus on high-risk obstetric patients.
- Care involves postpartum treatment following delivery.
- Standard patient load: 4 couplets.
- Float requirement includes postpartum and labor & delivery units at nearby campuses.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in specialty.
- Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted.
- Experience in high-risk obstetric care.
- Proficiency with magnesium sulfate administration and EPIC electronic health record system (EPIC experience is a hard stop).
- Experience with Pitocin, Foley catheter care, postpartum hemorrhage management, and substance withdrawal.
- JADA experience preferred.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- EPIC experience mandatory
- Additional certifications may be required based on clinical track (e.g., ACLS, PALS, EFM).
Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse license valid in Washington.
- Compact license holders are accepted if active.
- NURSYS verification required.
Scheduling
- 6 weekend days required per contract.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable).
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification for nursing degree.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted).
- COVID vaccination documentation preferred; declinations accepted.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 12 months.
- Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use, medically cleared annually.
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
- Skills checklist updated annually.
Additional Requirements
- Float policy acknowledgment: may be required to float to other nearby facilities.
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS.
- EPIC training modules must be completed; transcripts required.
- WA State Patrol background search required within 90 days of start.
- Multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington must complete demographic attestation.
- Photo for badge not required for this specific facility.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent postpartum experience.
- Experience working with high-risk patients.
- One completed travel nursing assignment.
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
