Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Duration: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Profession: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
- Unit: Outpatient Pavilion
- Schedule: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
- No weekends or holidays required
- Late stay call sign-up required
- Types of surgical cases: General, Gynecology (GYN), Breast/Plastics, Urology, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Eyes
- Average daily census: 35 patients
- Number of OR rooms: 6
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification
- Drug screen: Negative 11-panel drug test within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within one year of start, including assessment of ability to meet physical demands
- Fit mask test within last 12 months (specific mask brands accepted); exemptions reviewed case-by-case
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine if applicable
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Completion of skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Completion of facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, code of ethics, dress code, infection control, and safety policies prior to start
- Completion of vendor access request and facility background check through HireRight within 24 hours of receipt
Orientation and Training
- EPIC training modules required for OR candidates; approximately 5-8 hours to complete before start
- Online orientation and attestation required prior to start
- Candidate must wear both agency and facility badges at all times
Additional Notes
- Candidate must sign multiple facility-specific policies and acknowledgements prior to start
- Religious and medical exemptions for flu vaccine and fit mask require documentation and approval
- No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs seeking a 13-week travel contract with a consistent day shift schedule and no weekend or holiday work.
