Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- Rotating between 1 Day shift and 1 Night shift
- Approximately 36 hours per week
Job Description
- Independently provide nursing care to acutely ill neonatal patients under nurse leader supervision.
- Perform nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic care.
- Create a compassionate, patient- and family-centered environment.
- Collect and document patient data; interpret assessment data to identify physiological and psychosocial risk factors.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Prioritize nursing actions using clinical judgment and critical thinking.
- Establish nursing diagnoses and revise care plans as needed.
- Respond promptly to changes in patient status and activate emergency protocols when necessary.
- Coordinate care activities with nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers.
- Adhere to evidence-based practices, infection control policies, medication administration procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and nursing governance activities.
- Maintain competencies and complete mandatory education as required.
- Comply with RN scope of practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and nursing standards.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 3 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience
- NICU experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Cerner Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
