Description
Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM), with on-call from 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM once a week
Hours: 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Job Summary
- Accountable for the care of a group of patients in the Operating Room setting.
- Focus on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
- Responsible for supervising licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Applies the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Provides patient and family education, comfort, and satisfaction.
- Mentors and precepts staff members.
- Participates in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts and complies with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments according to policy and patient condition.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Facilitate and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and foster teamwork.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in practice governance and quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Acute care nursing experience
- Spine and vascular experience
