Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 15 weeks

Job Overview

• Provide medical/surgical level care for adult patients (18 and over).
• May float to surgical pediatrics or transitional care units.
• Utilize equipment such as Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, chest tubes, etc.
• Work various shift lengths and days; flexibility required.
• Scheduled for 36 hours per week following the first full week of orientation.
• No guarantee of hours or shift preference.
• Professional nursing attire required; closed-toe shoes; no specific scrub colors mandated.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Hawaii required by the start of the assignment.
• Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
• BLS certification required.

Orientation & Training

• Department-specific training and orientation included during the first week.
• Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for an employee health appointment on Friday.

Additional Information

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5 in the medical unit (50 beds).
• Day or night shift availability to be determined.
• No holiday return-to-office (RTO) requests allowed.
