Job Summary

Provide individualized, safe, and therapeutic nursing care to patients and families in a Labor & Delivery setting. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care that promotes quality outcomes and supports patient and family goals. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage complex or high-risk clinical situations and serve as a patient advocate.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family needs, prioritizing both overt and subtle concerns.
• Develop and document individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Implement and adapt culturally and age-appropriate nursing interventions.
• Evaluate patient and family progress toward goals and adjust care plans as needed.
• Identify and address patient/family educational needs using adult-learning principles.
• Recognize communication barriers and engage interdisciplinary expertise to foster therapeutic relationships.
• Advocate for patient and family participation in decision-making and uphold their rights.
• Document care and communicate patient needs according to departmental guidelines.
• Delegate tasks appropriately within the scope of practice of healthcare team members.
• Coordinate and communicate with healthcare team and ancillary staff to support patient progress and workflow.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• AWHONN Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Advanced or Intermediate (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Contract Length

• 13 weeks
