Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Orange, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to work in a large acute care hospital setting with Magnet recognition. The role requires the ability to circulate and perform sterile vaginal exams. Weekend shifts may exceed every other weekend to meet unit needs. Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered. Travel pairs are not accepted.
Work Schedule
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day shift: 07:00 - 19:30)
- Total Hours per Week: 36
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- AWHONN certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Must be able to circulate and perform sterile vaginal exams

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background Check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Education Verification (nursing degree verification required)
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness for duty
- Immunizations and Health Documents:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted
- Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel nurses
- Fit Mask test required for travel nurses, updated annually
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps
Training & Competency Requirements
- Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam required for all L&D RNs
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Skills checklist updated annually
Additional Notes
- Local radius for assignment is 50 miles
- Guaranteed hours may be subject to one call-off per pay period
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities
- Travel pairs and scheduling requests due to outside employment are not considered
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment in a well-established acute care hospital environment.
