Registered Nurse (ER) - Indiana
Job Overview
- Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
- Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Days (12-hour shifts, 3am-3pm)
- Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Unit Size: 43 beds
- Orientation: Mandatory 7 days (Week 1: Mon-Fri, Week 2: Mon-Tues, 8-hour days)
Job Description
- Provide emergency care nursing in a busy ER treating an average of 165 patients daily.
- Work includes care for a wide range of medical complaints and some trauma cases.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, police department, and behavioral health teams.
- The ER includes a specialized behavioral health unit staffed by nurses and techs trained in mental health care.
- The environment fosters teamwork and a family-like atmosphere with a mix of new and experienced nurses.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience
- Current Indiana RN license
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA only)
- ACLS (AHA only)
- PALS (AHA only)
- TNCC
- Experience with EPIC charting system (required)
- COVID-19 vaccination required
Additional Information
- No floating to other units/departments
- Dress code: Caribbean Blue scrubs
- Non-billable orientation hours: 8 hours (orientation attendance is mandatory)
- Call-off policy: Cancellation allowed up to 24 hours before shift for the 13-week assignment
- Prior travel experience is requested to be listed but not explicitly required
