Registered Nurse (ER) - Indiana, Fort Wayne
Job Overview
- Travel assignment for an Emergency Room Registered Nurse in Indiana.
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
- Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts (11am - 11pm).
- No floating to other units.
- Unit size: 43 beds.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4.
- Orientation: Mandatory 7 days; week 1 Mon-Fri, week 2 Mon-Tues, 8-hour days.
- Dress code: Caribbean Blue scrubs.
Unit and Work Environment
- Emergency Department treats approximately 165 patients daily.
- High volume of mentally ill patients; collaboration with police and behavioral health teams.
- Newly added enclosed behavioral health unit staffed by nurses and techs trained in mental health care.
- Collaborative team approach with physicians and a mix of new and experienced nurses.
- Family-like atmosphere with close interdepartmental relationships.
- Facility undergoing ongoing renovations and expansions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience.
- Current Indiana RN license.
- Certifications required (AHA only): BLS, ACLS, PALS.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Experience with EPIC charting system (required).
Additional Information
- COVID-19 vaccination required.
- All shifts possible, but this position is for day shift.
- Call-off policy allows cancellation up to 24 hours before shift during the 13-week assignment.
- Non-billable orientation hours: 8 hours; clinicians returning within 12 months are not eligible for non-billable orientation.
- Local rate adjustments apply for clinicians living within 50 miles (not relevant for pay details here).
Job Duties
- Provide emergency care nursing.
- Manage a variety of medical complaints and some trauma cases.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including behavioral health and law enforcement.
