Description
Registered Nurse (OR) - Travel Assignment
Location: Houston, Texas
Unit: Operating Room (2nd Floor)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit Overview
- 17 Operating Rooms and 1 Bed Emergency Room (not trauma designated)
- Staff: Approximately 70 total
- Day Shift: One scrub and one circulator per room, with support techs for positioning and other duties
- Most surgeons are assisted by a PA, CST, or NP during surgery
- Night shift coverage not applicable
- Patient Ratios: Standard for orthopedic OR
- Equipment: Orthopedic specialty
- Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- OR - Operating Room (1 year of experience)
- OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Large Joint and Spine Orthopedic Experience
- Orthopedics experience
Preferred Skills
- Well-versed in total joint and spine procedures
- Experience with orthopedic procedures including large joints, hand, feet, scopes, and spine (neurosurgery not performed)
Work Schedule & Call
- Shift starts at 6:45 AM with huddle on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Shift ends at 5:15 PM
- No second shift relief available
- Call approximately 4 times per month, Monday through Friday only (no weekend call)
- Call typically involves staying over to finish cases
Dress Code & Amenities
- Scrub color: Ciel Blue (sky blue)
- Scrubs are not provided by the hospital; bring your own
- Free parking garage available for employees and contractors
