Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location
- Lewiston, Maine
- 2nd largest city in Maine

- Employment Type: Travel
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Approximately 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Weekend Hours: No guaranteed weekends off; schedule aims to be fair

Unit Profile
- Department: Emergency Department (ED)
- Trauma Level: Level 2 trauma center
- Critical Care Bays: 4
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Patient Population: Pediatrics to Geriatrics (pediatric patients approx. 5%)
- Common Diagnoses/Treatments: Wide range including chest pain, stroke, trauma cases
- Equipment: Ultrasound, bladder scanner, neuro tele computer, Care Aware handheld devices
- Electronic Health Records: Omnicell, EPIC, SBAR
- Additional Unit Info: Teleneurology for stroke in cooperation with a major hospital; no PICU (patients transferred out)
- Float Requirement: Travelers required to float to ED holding area
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- Skills:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Care of ventilated patients
