Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery / OB & Med-Surg

Location

  • Holdrege, Nebraska

Employment Type

  • Contract
  • Contract Length: 12 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Shift: 5:45 PM – 6:00 AM
  • 2 out of 3 weekends required
  • Block scheduling available
  • 3-shift call off with no charge based on patient census
  • 36 hours per week

Job Description

  • Manage, organize, and administer nursing care for patients of all ages under physician supervision.
  • Assess physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients.
  • Report and document symptoms, reactions, and changes in patient condition.
  • Use the nursing process to develop, implement, revise, and evaluate formal plans of care.
  • Administer medications following the "Five Rights of Medication Administration."
  • Provide patient and family education appropriate to age and learning abilities.
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, families, and visitors.
  • Prioritize daily assignments to optimize patient care.
  • Maintain patient and employee confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate annual competency in assigned work areas.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational code of conduct.

Charge Nurse Responsibilities (if applicable)

  • Assign licensed and non-licensed staff according to patient needs and staff skill levels.
  • Coach staff to improve problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Lead or participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Recognize and respond immediately to life-threatening patient complications.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with physicians, departments, and staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
  • Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
