Cath Lab Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

Seeking an experienced Cath Lab Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years of Cath Lab experience. The role involves working normal business hours with on-call responsibilities.


Schedule

  • Option of either:
    • 4 shifts of 9 hours each (36 hours/week)
    • 5 shifts of 8 hours each (40 hours/week)
  • Typical start times: 7:00 AM or 7:45 AM, Monday through Friday
  • Call requirement: one night per week and every 4th weekend

Patient Diagnoses & Unit Details

  • Patient conditions include: AMI, STEMI, NSTEMI, EP devices, heart arrhythmias, PAD, PVD
  • Work areas:
    • Cath Lab (diagnostic, PCI - Level 2 lab)
    • EP Lab (device changeout, upgrades, ICD, pacer)
    • Vascular Angiogram
    • Interventional Radiology (simple procedures)

Special Equipment Experience

  • Impella
  • IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
  • Temporary pacer
  • Shockwave
  • DFR (Doppler Flow Reserve)
  • IVUS (Intravascular Ultrasound)
  • FFR (Fractional Flow Reserve)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 3 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
  • Subcontractors must complete additional background acknowledgment forms

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, or TB questionnaire if applicable
  • Immunizations or titers required:
    • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series; declination acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
  • Fit mask test required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026 and beyond

Competency and Testing Requirements

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)

References and Documentation

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application required, including education verification for nursing candidates
  • Skills checklist required

Additional Facility Policies

  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required for contracts signed 5/19/2025 and beyond
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, and Abuse reporting form and training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually for new contracts signed 11/7/2024 and beyond
