Description

Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Float Pool only, 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Summary

  • Provide nursing care using specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Care is culturally based and age-specific, following the American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to promote patient- and family-centered care.

Responsibilities

Assessment

  • Perform holistic assessments of patients’ physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs.
  • Recognize and report abnormal data and changes in patient condition to appropriate healthcare providers.
  • Use effective handoff communication methods to share pertinent patient information.
  • Assess safety risks for patients, families, and environment and implement safety initiatives.

Diagnosis and Planning

  • Establish and prioritize individualized patient problems and needs based on collected data.
  • Develop, coordinate, and revise multidisciplinary plans of care in collaboration with patients and families.
  • Set measurable goals for each patient problem.
  • Communicate plans of care using SBAR and participate in care conferences.
  • Initiate discharge planning upon admission and make appropriate referrals.

Implementation

  • Provide evidence-based, quality nursing care adhering to hospital policies and standards.
  • Perform and delegate nursing actions with critical thinking and accountability.
  • Deliver ongoing, individualized patient and family education.
  • Respond skillfully to emergency situations.
  • Implement infection control measures and maintain a safe environment.

Evaluation

  • Continuously evaluate nursing practice and patient outcomes against evidence-based standards and care plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
  • Float experience
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Additional Information

  • This position is specifically for the Float Pool.
  • Night shifts only, with a schedule of 3 twelve-hour shifts per week and every other weekend.

Note: Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement.
