Description

Registered Nurse – Bed Placement/Patient Placement (ICU)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours: 12 hours per day, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
Weekend Requirements: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week period (Fri & Sat nights, Sat & Sun days)
Holiday Requirements: Must be available to work holidays if needed; no PTO allowed on holidays
Scheduling:

  • First schedule assigned by management
  • Subsequent schedules allow self-scheduling but require balancing; no block scheduling guarantee

Job Overview

  • This role involves zero hands-on patient care.
  • Responsible for placing patients in appropriate beds across up to 3 hospitals (500-1000 beds total).
  • Use critical thinking to ensure patients are placed on the correct unit (e.g., Telemetry vs MedSurg).
  • Communicate with charge nurses or leadership if bed requests/orders are inappropriate.
  • Work primarily from multiple computer screens using various applications (TeleTracking, Cerner, Google apps, Zoom).
  • No responsibility for arranging patient transfers or making treatment recommendations/diagnoses.

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license required.
  • Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience preferred (1 year acceptable if recent LTC assignments are limited; candidates with mostly SNF experience in last 2-3 assignments will be declined).
  • Experience with TeleTracking bed management system and Cerner EMR required.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Zoom and Google applications.
  • Ability to multitask and provide excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of hospital departments and unit types (e.g., MedSurg vs Telemetry).

Orientation & Supervision

  • 1 day general hospital orientation plus 3-5 days department-specific orientation (may occur on any shift).
  • Lead and supervisor available 24/7 for support.

Additional Information

  • Candidates must pass a Dys exam prior to acceptance (pass/fail with 2 attempts allowed).
  • Candidates cannot have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any related facilities within the past year (PRN through outside firms is acceptable).
  • Limited to no return to origin (RTO) allowed; flexibility for 12-hour days, weekends, and holidays is required.
  • Dress code: clean, professional scrubs (any color) or casual attire (jeans without rips/tears, clean hoodies without large writing).
