Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Evening (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 3:00 PM – 3:30 AM)

Job Description
- Respiratory Therapist position requiring experience in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings.
- No on-call duties.
- Will accept first-time travel therapists.
- Use of specialized respiratory equipment including Hamilton G5, PB 980, Respironics V60, Optiflow, Lumis tx, Cough Assist, Vest, and IPV.
- Scrub color: Dark Grey.
- Return-to-Office (RTO) requests must be approved by the facility.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Pennsylvania.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
- Current certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience working with adult patients.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Comprehensive background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- County, State, Nationwide Criminal Search
- Sex Offender Search
- Education Verification
- PA PATCH (Pennsylvania State Police Search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire.
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Fingerprint Results required within 90 days of start.
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search required within 90 days of start.
- Pennsylvania Medicheck Search required within 30 days of start.
- Fingerprint clearance required within 90 days of start; must include all pages if multiple.
- Background checks and verifications must be complete for clearance; instant searches are not acceptable.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 months of start.
- Fit test questionnaire and fit mask test required prior to start.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination with facility-specific form
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (clinical staff must have vaccine or exemption)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series required
- Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer or completed vaccine series (declinations not accepted)
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per guidelines (QGold or T-Spot within 90 days or 2 PPDs with specified timing)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (9-panel without THC also acceptable). Dilute results require observed retest within 24 hours if allowed by state.
- Respirator medical clearance required annually for respirator use (RespSafety clearance).
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required within 12 months of start.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 12 months of start.
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for all RNs and LVNs (not applicable here but noted for context).
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and Joint Commission Training required.
- National Certification/Verification prior to facility start and upon expiration.
Documentation and Administrative Requirements
- Minimum of 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start.
- Complete employment application including 7 years of work history with explanations for gaps over 90 days.
- Education verification for highest level relative to specialty.
- Photo for badge (new candidates starting 3/31/2025 and after): recent (within 6 months), forward-facing, color photo with solid background, no hats/masks/filters.
- Badge request form required for new candidates starting before 3/30/2025.
- Affidavit for provisional employment must be completed prior to start.
- COVID and flu declination forms required if applicable.

- Local rate is $5 less than standard (pay details excluded as per instructions).
