Registered Nurse - NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
Location: Webster, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Information
- Unit: Neonatal ICU (42 beds)
- Staff per shift:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 10-15 RNs, 1 Patient Care Technician (PCT)
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 10-15 RNs, 1 PCT
- Patient Ratios:
- Level 3 acuity: 1 nurse per 1-3 patients (depending on acuity)
- Level 2 acuity: 1 nurse per 3-4 patients
- Equipment: Isolettes, OMNI beds, phototherapy, computers
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Meditech and CPN
- Floating Area: Newborn nursery
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
- Schedule: Minimum 4 weekend shifts per schedule, occasional on-call
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last year
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Skills and Procedures
- Must have: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) skills
- Preferred: STABLE certification and experience with central lines such as UAC, UVC, Broviacs, PICC lines
- Typical procedures: IV starts, PICC insertions (for trained clinicians)
