Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Pediatric Case Manager role requiring pediatric nursing experience.
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (typical shift times between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM).
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 4 weekend days in a 4-week schedule.
- No on-call duties.
- Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs.
- Block scheduling is not accommodated.
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted).
- Guaranteed 72 hours per 2 weeks; may be called off for one 8-hour shift per 2 weeks.
- Start date: ASAP.
Facility Information
- Acute hospital setting with 407 staffed beds.
- Magnet designated facility and Level II Trauma center.
- Uses Epic for charting.
- Free parking provided.
- Scrub color provided.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska.
- Minimum 2 years of Case Management experience, with at least 1 year of Case Management experience within the last year.
- Experience working with pediatric patients, including pediatric nursing experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Shift times may vary among:
- 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Weekend work required as noted above.
- Floating within scope of practice may be required.
- Only one time-off request allowed per 13-week assignment (up to 5 days). No holiday time off for auto offer candidates.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable).
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually.
- Education verification required (nursing degree verification mandatory).
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start. Instant tests acceptable.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness for duty.
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination accepted.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer required.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (for Alaska placements, positive titer and vaccine series required).
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer required.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season or declination accepted.
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates.
- Fit mask testing required annually for travel candidates (on-site testing available if needed).
Certifications (Must be current and valid)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Pediatric Society.
Additional Requirements
- References: Minimum of 2 references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable pediatric specialty or setting.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates.
- Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually.
- Completion of required annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via the employer’s LMS system.
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required prior to start.
Notes
- Candidates must comply with all state-specific background and licensing requirements.
- Candidates must be prepared to complete Epic training modules as required.
- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities.
- No local candidates accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility.
This position is ideal for a pediatric registered nurse with acute care and Epic experience seeking a travel contract in an acute hospital setting in Alaska.
