Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience preferred; 1 year minimum required
- Current RN license in Maryland or a compact state
- BLS (AHA) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Job Description / Responsibilities
- Care for obstetrical patients antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum
- Provide immediate PACU recovery care for post c-section patients (no circulating required)
- Provide immediate care of the newborn
Unit / Department Details
- 13 labor beds, 3 triage rooms, 2 operating rooms
- Average of 170 deliveries per month
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1-2:1
- Equipment used: Epic EMR, Pericalm fetal monitoring surveillance, Omnicell medication dispensing system
Shift / Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- On-call shift averages 12 hours every 4 weeks
- Weekend work required, usually every 3rd weekend but can be up to every other weekend
Orientation / Training
- 8 hours of non-billable general hospital orientation
- Usually 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor on 12-hour night shifts
- Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation
Additional Information
- Floating: Potential to float to postpartum unit if census is low on L&D; no floating outside OB
- Dress code: Hospital-provided scrubs
- Local radius restriction: Candidates must be outside a 100-mile radius; local candidates are not accepted
- Call-off policy: Client may cancel up to 12 hours before the shift during the 13-week assignment
