Job Summary
- Accountable for the care of a group of patients in a Mother/Baby unit.
- Focus on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
- Responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized plans of care.
- Applies evidence-based practice and supports education within a Practice Governance framework.
- Supervises licensed and non-licensed staff, mentors and precepts team members.
- Uses the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to guide caring processes.
- Promotes patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assessments and reassessments according to policy or patient condition.
- Initiate, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and foster teamwork.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in quality, safety, and service process initiatives.
- Comply with regulatory standards and participate in Practice Governance.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Maternal-Newborn nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification
- NRP-Advanced certification
- STABLE certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Acute care nursing experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
