Registered Nurse - ICU (Texas, Tyler) Travel/Contract Position


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
  • Unit Size: 16 beds
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • E-Verify compliance (for direct hires)
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year background check updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG screenings
    • Education verification (highest level)
  • Work history verification for the past 7 years
  • Complete employment application and resume
  • Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
  • Photo for badge

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start date
  • Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented chickenpox history
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color: Charcoal Grey/Pewter
  • Candidates residing in certain Texas counties (e.g., Henderson, Anderson, Smith, Gregg, etc.) are not eligible for travel contracts in this facility’s state system
  • Orientation and training requirements must be completed prior to starting work
  • Fingerprinting required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)

This position offers a focused ICU nursing role on night shifts with a 1:2 patient ratio in a 16-bed unit, ideal for experienced ICU RNs seeking a travel contract in Texas.
