Description

Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lubbock, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Details

  • Position floats between units.
  • Weekends required: 6 shifts every 6 weeks.
  • No on-call required.
  • No block schedules required.
  • Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients.
  • Facility type: Short Term Acute Care, Level II Trauma Center.
  • Dress code for licensed nursing personnel: solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (no print tops except in specific pediatric and women’s services units).
  • Free parking available in unrestricted employee/visitor lots.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum 1 year of Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.

Required Documentation & Background Checks

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Social Security Card (as applicable).
  • E-Verify attestation.
  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must include SSN trace, death master index, nationwide sex offender registry, education verification, and other checks as applicable.
  • Education verification for nursing degree (or equivalent for international education).
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work.
  • Drug screen (9 panel) within 12 months of start.
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
    • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
  • Respiratory safety clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel starts on or after 2/5/2024.

Competencies & Training

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Unit-specific competency exams, including fetal heart rate monitoring (EFM) training for Labor & Delivery RNs if applicable.
  • Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
  • Facility-specific training and compliance modules required annually.

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates.
  • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required for badge issuance.
  • Acknowledgement of float policy: may be required to float to other nearby facilities within the system.

Work Environment

  • Night shift in a short-term acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center designation.
  • Expected to work in a telemetry unit with patient ratios of 1:4-5.
  • Dress code requires solid navy blue scrubs for licensed nursing staff.

Notes

  • 48-hour shifts are not approved.
  • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome.
  • Floating between units is expected as part of the role.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Weekend work is required as specified.
