Registered Nurse - Orthopedic Surgery

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Unit Information

  • Unit: Orthopedics (J6)
  • Number of Beds: 32 individual rooms
  • Staff per Shift:
    • Day: 1 charge RN, 6 RNs, 1-2 LPNs, 3 PCTs, 1 HUC
    • Night: 1 charge RN, 5 RNs, 1-2 LPNs, 2 PCTs, 1 HUC
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Day shift: 5:1 (stretch 6:1)
    • Night shift: 6:1 (stretch 7:1)
  • Equipment Used: Walkers, Bedside Commode, Bladder Scanners, CPM, Sky lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Lift, Maxi Move, Vital Sign Machine, Hover Mat, Bair Hugger, Wheelchairs
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner

Typical Procedures

  • Dressing changes
  • Suture/staple removal
  • Foley catheter care
  • NG tube management
  • Wound Vac maintenance and removal

Schedule & Work Hours

  • Hours per week: 36
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • BLS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
  • Experience in Orthopedic Surgery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hospital experience
  • Orthopedic experience
