Scrub Tech
Location: San Diego, California
Employment Type: Travel - Allied Health Clinical
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Summary
Provides patient care and unit support in the operating room (OR) suite. Responsible for anticipating procedural needs, managing surgical instruments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with all applicable policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Maintain all required licensing, certifications, and mandatory training on schedule (e.g., TB testing, safety, HIPAA).
- Provide quality care by anticipating needs during surgical cases and assisting with dressings or cast applications.
- Follow surgeon preference cards for case preparation and update them as needed.
- Perform surgical counts (instruments, towel clips, etc.) accurately and document exceptions.
- Take initiative to identify and resolve problems to improve department quality.
- Participate in teaching and contribute suggestions for process improvements and cost containment.
- Work additional or different shifts as requested.
- On-call requirements include 12 hours on weekends and 20 hours on weekdays within a 4-week period, with a 30-minute response time. Weekend call is in addition to scheduled weekend shifts. Scheduled for two shifts every other weekend. One shift per pay period may be cancelled without pay.
Required Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
- BLS certification for healthcare providers required.
