Operating Room Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
  • Work Schedule: Every other weekend, usually Saturday; no on-call required
  • Role: Scrub preferred, circulate required
  • Clinical Areas: Must be able to function in multiple surgical specialties including Trauma, Cardiovascular Thoracic (CVT), Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Cataracts, ENT, and others

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
  • Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and ENT Surgery

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in Operating Room or related surgical areas
  • Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; candidates should have relevant OR experience to function across multiple surgical specialties

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) required and must be carried during work hours
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SS trace, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG screening required within specified timeframes
  • Education verification or diploma required (Electronic Document Verification acceptable)
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually, covering multiple substances
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; no declinations except medical/religious exemptions)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titers or 2 vaccines with boosters as needed)
    • Hepatitis A, B, and C (titers, vaccination series, or declination forms)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines with boosters as needed)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine required annually (medical/religious exemptions allowed with documentation)
    • COVID-19 seasonal vaccine required; declination form required if opting out
  • Tuberculosis screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months, updated annually
  • Completion of facility-specific forms prior to start including new hire paperwork, confidentiality agreement, standards of behavior, OSHA post-test, IT access, and various vaccine exemption forms if applicable
  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
  • Skills checklist and performance evaluations required if previously employed with the facility

  • Candidates must be flexible and able to work in a trauma-capable environment covering diverse surgical specialties
