Registered Nurse (PCU/IMC) - Wisconsin, Weston

Job Details

  • Specialty: PCU/IMC RN
  • Location: Weston, Wisconsin
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts, Days (7a-7p) and Nights (7p-7a)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
  • Call/Standby: Yes
  • Floating: Required to Medical-Surgical or IMC overflow in ICU
  • Orientation: Up to 3 days, unit/department specific
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Intermediate Care (IMC)
  • Number of Beds: 30
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, may stretch to 1:5 with sick call or added CNA support
  • Nurse Aide Ratio: Approximately 1:10-12 depending on census
  • Charge Nurse Role: Charge RNs take 2 patients
  • Telemetry: Tele/Monitor techs present who read strips; RNs do not read their own strips
  • Telemetry Equipment: GE monitors
  • Respiratory Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, Optiflow

Patient Population / Common Diagnoses

  • Cardiac conditions including NSTEMI, post cath lab, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure
  • GI bleed
  • Detoxification patients
  • Respiratory distress
  • Sepsis

Required Skills and Experience

  • Management of IV nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone drips
  • Experience with post cath lab patients beneficial
  • Arterial line experience appreciated but not required
  • RNs are required to titrate drips including nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • EKG Course certification

Additional Information

  • Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
  • Must disclose if previously worked for this facility; if yes, last end date must be at least 6 months prior to submission
  • No self-scheduling; agency nurses usually brought in as variable or straight nights
