Description

Registered Nurse (RN) ICU - Long-Term Assignment

Location: Mequon, Wisconsin
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work on an Acuity Adaptable Unit with a mix of ICU/IMC and Med/Surg patients
  • Schedule includes every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH)
  • Must be willing to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed
  • Nail policy: No artificial or acrylic nails; natural nails must be short (< 1/4 inch)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including ICU experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Intermediate Care (IMC) experience
  • Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing experience

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Two MMR vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
    • Two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
    • Tdap vaccination within the last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
    • Two-step PPD or negative IGRA with annual TB questionnaire; if positive, chest X-ray within 1 year required
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be completed onsite)
  • Annual physical or statement of good health prior to first assignment
  • 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter

Testing and Competency

  • Ascension Specialty Exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
  • Ascension Core Competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics, updated every 3 years
  • Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out and Training Checklist with signed attestation

Documentation and Verification

  • Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references required prior to assignment
  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 90 days of start
  • Employment verification for the past seven years, updated annually
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
  • Confirmation of assignment documentation with accurate start and end dates

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
  • Floating may be required within the skill set or to nearby sites
  • All certifications must be current and from recognized organizations (e.g., AHA for BLS/ACLS)
