Description
Registered Nurse (EP RN) – California, Stockton
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 12-hour day shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- One night of call per week; call crew stays until all cases are complete, with a day off following call
- Call response time: 30 minutes or less
- Every other weekend on call; weekend call every 6th weekend
- Occasional Saturday cases (rare)
- No holiday call requirements
- No floating required
Job Description
- Support diagnostic and interventional coronary and peripheral catheterization lab procedures
- Work in a STEMI receiving center with frequent STEMI cases monthly
- Perform patient assessments and preparation including vital signs, allergies, labs, history, patient education, and informed consent
- Administer moderate sedation and monitor patient response during procedures
- Maintain sterile field and assist with catheter insertion
- Monitor cardiac rhythm, hemodynamics, and patient status throughout procedures
- Provide post-procedure recovery care, monitor for complications, assess access sites, reinforce post-op instructions, and coordinate discharge planning
- Accurately document assessments, medications, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Respond to emergency code situations using ACLS protocols
- Collaborate with cardiologists, anesthesia, cath lab techs, and support staff for optimal patient care
Patient Population and Procedures
- Cath lab diagnostic and interventional coronary and peripheral cases
- Use of advanced equipment including laser, rotablator, nitric oxide, IVUS, Impella, IABP, FFR, and AngioJet
- Manage critically ill patients
Facility and Equipment
- 4 procedure rooms/labs
- Average 15-20 cases per day
- Use Merge Hemo system (knowledge of Merge is a bonus)
- Cerner EMR
- Phillips and Siemens imaging equipment
- Ventilators present with respiratory therapist support during cases
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Required Experience and Skills
- Experience with peripheral and coronary circulation procedures
- Comfort working with critically ill patients
- Prior travel experience: No first-time travelers accepted
Team Structure
- Cardiologists available 24/7 on stand-by or working
- Charge nurse coverage during the day; circulator nurse acts as charge nurse after hours
