Description
Case Manager (Registered Nurse) - Travel/Contract
Location: Kinston, North Carolina
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 5x8 hours (8:00 AM - 2:30 PM)
Hours per week: 40 hours
Contract length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide comprehensive case management including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual patient needs. Focus on enhancing patient management quality, satisfaction, continuity of care, and cost effectiveness through case management, utilization review, and discharge planning.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 4 years of case management experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an acute care setting
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Key Responsibilities
- Case management and discharge planning
- Support patient care coordination and utilization review
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and departmental policies
- Maintain high organization and adaptability to frequent changes
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Immunizations/vaccinations including:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no titer accepted)
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella
- 2 Varicella vaccines, positive titer, or physician-documented history
- Hepatitis B vaccine series and positive titer or declination accepted
- Annual flu vaccine required during flu season (medical or religious exemptions accepted with approval)
- TB testing: QGold/Tspot or 2-step PPD within 1 year; if past positive, chest x-ray within 5 years plus annual questionnaire
- COVID vaccination proof if vaccinated (requirement waived if not vaccinated)
- Fit mask test required for respiratory therapists (not applicable here)
Background and Verification
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days while on assignment
- Education verification within 90 days of start
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
- Drug screen must be a full 10-panel; instant drug screens only accepted as temporary placeholders if standard results are pending
Additional Notes
- No call required
- Average daily census: 70 on weekends, 20 on weekdays
- Candidates will be reviewed and interviewed by management
- Must include Return to Office (RTO) information in submission to be honored at offer time
- Candidates must complete required LMS modules during orientation
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with prior travel assignments who are skilled in acute care and case management, and who meet the licensure and certification requirements for North Carolina.
