Description

Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Bridgton, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (flexible scheduling including days, mids, nights)
Hours per Week: 36 (including 10 weekend shifts per contract)
Call Requirements: Yes
Patient Ratio: 1:4


Facility & Unit Overview

  • Critical access hospital with 25 beds
  • Emergency Department (Trauma Level III)
  • Patient population includes acute emergency cases requiring stabilization and transfer for trauma, STEMI, stroke, and code situations
  • Equipment includes Level I infuser and telestroke technology
  • Electronic Health Records: Omnicell, Cerner, SBAR

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification

Preferred but not required: CPI, NRP


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in Emergency Department or similar acute care setting
  • Must be flexible to float across shifts and adapt to variable scheduling

Required Skills & Clinical Competencies

  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Blood product administration
  • Phlebotomy and starting IVs
  • Continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressors
  • Procedural sedation administration
  • Care for CVA (stroke), orthopedic trauma, head injury patients
  • Isolation precautions and triage
  • Experience with Cerner EHR system

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in a critical access hospital setting
  • Familiarity with NIH Stroke Scale and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Additional Information

  • Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
  • Must be adaptable to a dynamic schedule without a fixed number of days per shift
  • Unit requires flexibility and ability to float as needed

  • Small town with access to outdoor activities such as skiing, beaches, parks, and local attractions
  • Approximately 1 hour from larger cities and regional airports

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Maine
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
