Description
RN Oncology - Pediatrics
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Registered Nurse, Direct Care
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Job Description
- Provide nursing care to pediatric oncology patients under general supervision.
- Manage an assigned group of patients, documenting responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments.
- Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
- Monitor physiological data and intervene as necessary.
- Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products.
- Communicate care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
- Make referrals for patient care needs and delegate tasks to support staff.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric hematology/oncology nursing experience within the last year.
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Chemotherapy certification from the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON).
- Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration certification from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Skills
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Basic computer skills.
Additional Information
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
- Responsibilities include both direct patient care and collaboration with healthcare team members.
