Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Orange, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Day shift (07:00 - 19:30)
- Schedule: Weekends may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs
- Setting: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet recognized
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: Free
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- Certifications:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN certification
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Job Requirements & Conditions
- Scheduling: Requests due to outside employment will not be considered
- Travel Pairs: Not allowed
- Local Radius: 50 miles
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off once per pay period (2 weeks)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Must have a background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, death master index, nationwide sex offender, FACIS Level 3, education verification, and others as applicable
- No open/active background hits or multiple DUIs allowed
- Education Verification: Required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format
- Skills Checklist: Required and must be updated annually
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
- Immunizations & Health Requirements:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable documentation
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates, medically cleared for respirator use
- Fit Mask Testing: Required annually, completed onsite or valid record within 1 year
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background required before start
Competencies & Training
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): Certification required (AWHONN or NCC-EFM) or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam
- Annual Regulatory Training: Required via assigned learning management system modules
- Epic Training: Completion of Epic modules required prior to or shortly after orientation

- Must comply with float policy; may be required to float to other nearby facilities
- No scheduling accommodations for outside employment
- No travel pairs accepted
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week assignment in a large, Magnet-recognized acute care hospital in California.
