Description
NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Santa Rosa, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in a Level III or IV NICU acute patient setting.
- Deliver holistic, individualized care incorporating psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Responsible for direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
Shift Details
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- Voluntary call and floating as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience (2 years)
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
- 2 years of Level III or Level IV acute care experience as a Registered Nurse
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Certifications & Competencies
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Additional certifications may be required based on position verification (e.g., ACLS, CCRN, PALS)
- Medication and competency exams as applicable
Background & Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter (or equivalent checks if FACIS unavailable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions, Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as required
- Education verification with preference for Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Employment verification covering 7 years with explanation for gaps over 30 days
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
- TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2-step PPD with annual renewal
- Immunizations or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30)
- Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person only)
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually
Documentation & Compliance
- Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
- Complete facility-specific attestations for conditional offers, religious exemptions (if applicable), and TB questionnaire
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years for clinical acute care candidates
- Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps
