RN - Operating Room (Hybrid)
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Accountable for care of a group of patients in the Operating Room setting.
- Focus on safe, effective patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
- Responsible for supervising licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Applies evidence-based practice and education within a Practice Governance framework.
- Uses the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
- Emphasizes patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
- Mentors and precepts staff.
Job Duties
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent clinical decisions.
- Initiate, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care as needed.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams; utilize resources appropriately.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate patient and family education related to care, treatment, and discharge.
- Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
- Facilitate teamwork and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives and implement practice changes.
- Comply with regulatory standards.
- Participate in the Practice Governance model.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in Urology and Thoracic Surgery cases
Shift Details
- Day shift: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, four days per week.
- Call schedule: one overnight call per week and every 4th weekend.
- Weekend call hours: from 3:00 PM Friday until 6:30 AM Monday.
- Total hours per week: 32 hours.
