Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location: Danville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN to backfill a position in a 31-bed Emergency Room with 2 triage rooms. The unit serves all age groups and includes behavioral health and acute patients. The role involves rotating weekends as needed, with no call requirements.
Work Schedule
- 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Rotating weekends/as needed
- No call requirements
Unit & Patient Information
- Emergency Department with 31 beds (7 beds for behavioral health/acute patients)
- Patient ratio typically 1:4, with exceptions during high volume or special circumstances
- Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost (ED) and Meditech (for admit holds and behavioral health patients)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications required prior to start:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- Handle with Care (available on-site)
- Must consent to random drug screening and complete a criminal questionnaire/consent form
Skills & Experience
- Strong Emergency Department experience required
- Professional, positive, compassionate, and team-oriented personality preferred
- Float to other units as needed
Orientation
- Bi-weekly orientation sessions on Tuesdays

- Facility is a 250-bed academic community hospital with advanced certifications including Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center
- Located in a small town with access to parks, trails, and cultural amenities
Note: Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for travel status.
