X-Ray Technician - Contract

Location: New York, NY
Employment Type: Contract
Shift: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Hours: Approximately 34.5 hours per week (7 hours per day)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Operate and oversee radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic body images. Prepare patients for radiological procedures while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish rapport with patients to understand service needs and reduce anxiety by explaining procedures and answering questions.
• Position patients and adjust immobilization devices and equipment controls for radiological procedures.
• Apply radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff, including use of beam restrictive devices and shielding.
• Maintain quality and production standards of radiographs by processing images and making necessary adjustments.
• Document patient care services and verify exam completion in records.
• Perform preventive maintenance on radiology equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and maintain equipment inventory.
• Monitor and maintain radiology supplies inventory.
• Ensure a safe and clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education and participation in professional activities.
• Complete yearly Age Specific Competency assessments.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiology Technician license in New York
• Minimum 2 years of Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
• Experience as an X-Ray Technician
• Experience with GE Healthcare radiology equipment
