Registered Nurse – Operating Room (OR)

Location: Truckee, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care for patients undergoing operative or invasive procedures using the nursing process.
• Scrub and circulate in all operative services except neuro and cardiac.
• Coordinate care with healthcare providers and supervise staff across the surgical continuum.
• Work in a fast-paced OR environment with a case load of 10-20 cases per day.
• Typical cases include Orthopedics (total joints, trauma), Gynecology, ENT, General Surgery, and Urology.
• Circulating is required; scrubbing is a bonus but not mandatory.
• Assist with room turnover.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Small 30-bed hospital setting.
• 4-5 OR suites with 15-20 cases daily.
• Shift: Days, approximately 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (10-hour shifts).
• 40 hours per week, variable 4/10 schedule but not fixed days.
• Call requirement: 1-2 weekends per month, no night call.
• Call response time: 30 minutes.
• Holiday call required, billed at regular rate.
• Charge nurse and OR tech support available.
• No floating required.
• 2-day floor-specific orientation plus additional paperwork/IT day for charting.
• EMR system: Epic.

Certifications & Licenses

• Registered Nurse license required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• PALS certification preferred but not mandatory.

Additional Information

• No telemetry or ventilator management in the OR; ventilated patients go to PACU.
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7; pharmacy available during the day.
• Scrub color provided.
• No IV team support.
• No robotics cases.
• Prior travel experience is not specified as required.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum years of OR nursing experience not explicitly stated; must be able to function independently in a very fast-paced OR.
