Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool)
Location: Normal, Illinois
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide specialized nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab.
- Care for patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain.
- Work in a fast-paced, evolving environment utilizing current technology and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and modify individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
- Administer medications and evaluate their effects, prepare patients for procedures, manage post-operative care, perform IV venipuncture and blood administration.
- Document all nursing care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR).
- Provide direct patient care and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimize patient outcomes.
- Float to various inpatient units as needed, acting as a resource for staff from different specialties.
- Delegate patient care tasks to healthcare team members and validate task completion.
- Maintain patient safety through adherence to fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety.
- Conduct bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards.
- Manage conflict professionally and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Prioritize patient safety and effective communication within the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience, with recent Med Surg experience within the last year.
- Experience in pulmonary nursing and pulmonology.
- Experience in cardiology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
