Description
Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Surgery (Travel)
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Unit: Cardiovascular Pre-Op (CV PreOp)
- Beds: 4
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Staffing: RNs supported by CNC, secretary, manager; shared with CVOR
- Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
- On-Call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
- Floating: Within scope of practice and experience
Patient Population & Care
- Critical care patients requiring preoperative cardiovascular surgery care
- Procedures include large-bore IV starts, chin-to-toe hair removal, medication administration, skin assessment
- Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
- Transport patients to OR; assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin preparation
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care, including experience within the last year
- Critical care nursing experience
- Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification

Work Hours
- 36 hours per week
- Monday through Friday day shift with some on-call late shifts required
