Echo Tech (Echocardiography) - Travel Position
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (4 days/week, 10 hours/day)
Weekend Requirement: Yes

Job Summary
Perform diagnostic echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients using 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams. Assist cardiologists during exams and coordinate with hospital departments to ensure smooth workflow and accurate billing. Participate in quality control, performance improvement activities, and on-call coverage for emergency echo exams outside regular hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform technically proficient echocardiographic exams (2D, M-mode, Doppler)
- Coordinate scheduling, patient transport, and communication with hospital departments
- Assist cardiologists by preparing measurements and exchanging diagnostic information
- Manage delivery and distribution of dictations promptly
- Respond to patient needs and report changes in condition to appropriate staff
- Order supplies and maintain cleanliness and readiness of exam rooms
- Log patient exams and maintain accurate records
- Participate in departmental and hospital-wide performance improvement initiatives
- Share responsibility for on-call emergency echo coverage
- Maintain equipment quality control and coordinate repairs
- Stay current with advances in echocardiography and seek mentorship for skill development
- Assist with other cardiac procedures as needed
Required Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a two-year allied health education program related to patient care (e.g., diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, or registered nurse preferred)
Certification / Licenses
- A.R.D.M.S. or CCI registered or registry eligible, or comparable national accreditation
- State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License
- BLS certification issued through the American Heart Association
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of actively performing echocardiograms preferred (higher requirement than stated elsewhere)

- Manual dexterity required to perform echocardiograms
