Description
Registered Nurse - Medicine Pediatrics
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Registered Nurse, Direct Care
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Weekends and holidays required
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Job Description
Provide nursing care under general supervision to pediatric patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex. Responsibilities include:
- Managing an assigned group of patients and documenting responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments.
- Assisting physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
- Monitoring physiological data and intervening as necessary.
- Administering medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products.
- Delivering competent patient care and communicating care plans to patients and families.
- Making referrals for patient care needs and delegating tasks to support staff.
- Floating to various pediatric units including PICU (34 beds), CICU (25 beds), NICU (112 beds), surgical, behavioral health, medical specialty (GI, neuro, respiratory), hematology/oncology, step-down, and cardiac pediatrics.
- Providing care in acute care units and low acuity NICU patients (feeder growers), not traditional NICU care.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 1 year of float experience, including float experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Experience with tracheostomy (trach) care
- Experience with high-flow oxygen therapy
- Pediatrics nursing experience
Additional Information
- This is a Float Pool position requiring flexibility to work across multiple pediatric units.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- Preferred but not required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from a board-approved program.
