Respiratory Therapist - Des Moines, Iowa
Job Details
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (3x 12-hour night shifts)
- Schedule: No on-call; every other weekend and every other holiday off
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Iowa
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Current and valid license/certification verifications dated within 30 days of start
- Fit test for respiratory protection
- Specialty-specific competency testing completed within the last year
- Physical/health statement confirming fitness to work (exam within the last year)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- COVID-19 vaccine (including booster or approved exemption)
- MMR (proof of 2 vaccinations or immunity titer)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series initiated prior to start
- Varicella vaccination or immunity proof
- 2-step PPD or IGRA (TB test) with chest x-ray if positive (per regional requirements)
- Tdap vaccine (declination accepted if no pediatric interaction)
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (no THC)
- Background and credential verifications including:
- Criminal background check (7 years, federal and county)
- Education verification
- Exclusion screenings (OIG, EPLS, OFAC) within 30 days of start
- Child and adult dependent abuse registry check (Iowa only)
- Conflict of interest and code of conduct forms
- System access form completed one week before start
- Skills checklist and core competency exams as required
Additional Notes
- All documentation must be uploaded and verified in the credentialing system prior to onboarding.
- This position is based in Des Moines, Iowa, and requires night shift availability.
- No on-call duties and a balanced holiday/weekend schedule provide work-life balance.
