    Job Opportunity: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Outpatient

    Location: Crescent City, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Description

    • Provide assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with cognitive, speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.
    • Work primarily outpatient pediatric coverage with adult acute rehab evaluations and treatment on weekend days.
    • Occasional home health visits may be required.
    • Work schedule: Thursday to Monday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or Sunday to Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
    • Work setting includes a mix of inpatient/acute rehab unit (ARU) and outpatient (OP).
    • Assist with clinical supervision of assistants and aides and serve as a clinical instructor for assigned students.
    • Smaller facility environment.

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist license in California.
    • Minimum 2 years of pediatric Speech Language Pathologist experience, including experience within the last year.
    • Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.

    Background and Compliance Requirements

    • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks required as applicable.
    • Education verification of highest level achieved required (not required if highest education is high school).
    • Official transcripts/diplomas may be required if verification attempts are unsuccessful.
    • TB Screening Questionnaire required within 90 days of start and must be renewed annually.
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray required within 90 days of start, with annual renewal.
    • Physical exam required within 1 year of start.
    • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law).
    • Immunizations required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30). Medical and religious exemptions considered with proper documentation.
    • Fit mask test required within 1 year of start and renewed annually (with accommodations for failed tests or religious exemptions).

    Shift and Hours

    • Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (40 hours per week).
    • Typical shift hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

    Additional Notes

    • Must have full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps over 30 days.
    • Two professional references required within 3 years for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates.
    • Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be renewed annually.
    • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including standards of business conduct, vendor training, code of conduct, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
    • Religious accommodation forms available for vaccine and facial hair exemptions, subject to approval.
