Location: Torrance, California
Specialty: Surgical Services
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital (356 staffed beds)
Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 10:45 AM – 8:45 PM
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details
- On-call plus rotation required: work one Saturday shift and rotate weekly
- Neuro experience is a plus
- Must be willing to float between like units, including possible float to a nearby acute care hospital
- Scrub color: any color accepted
- Charting system: Epic

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
- Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- BLS certification required (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – verify if required by unit
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – verify if required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – verify if required
- Chemotherapy certification – verify if required
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) – verify if required
- IV Certification – verify if required
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) – verify if required
- NIH Stroke Certification – verify if required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – verify if required
Note: Certification requirements depend on unit and clinical track; verify accordingly.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification required for all candidates
- State-specific searches as applicable (e.g., Washington State Patrol Search)
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only)
- Immunizations and health documents:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with declination option
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with declination option
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with masking requirements
Additional Requirements
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates
- Skills checklist required for applicable units, updated annually
- Float policy acknowledgment required due to possible floating between facilities
- Badge photo (passport style with neutral background) required for badge issuance
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Epic training modules required; transcripts must be submitted and verified prior to start

- Candidates must be prepared for on-call plus rotation and floating between units/facilities
- Neuro experience is beneficial but not mandatory
- Pending licenses are not accepted; active license required at submission
