OR Tech / Surgical Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Eureka, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (5x8 hours), 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Hours per Week: 40
Job Description
- Start Date: ASAP
- Surgical Services specialty
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- First-time travelers accepted if they have 2 years of experience; less than 2 years requires screening
- Weekend shifts available separately
- Float required to SPD and Endoscopy departments
- No pending CA state license accepted; active CA state license required
- No more than 7 days of Return to Office (RTO) restrictions
- Unit has 10 rooms/beds
Required Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- Active California state license for Surgical Tech
- ACLS, BLS certifications (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation accepted)
- Other certifications may be required based on clinical track (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, EFM) — verify per clinical track
- Medication and competency exams as applicable
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates (updated annually)
- Immunizations and health documents:
- TDAP within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual update required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with masking requirements
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates
Background and Compliance
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
- Skills checklist updated annually as applicable
- State-specific searches and attestations as required (e.g., WA, OR, AK) depending on placement
- Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background)
Additional Requirements
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other nearby facilities
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS (Workramp)
- Epic training modules required if applicable to facility/unit
- WA multi-state licensed nurses must complete demographic attestation prior to start (if applicable)
