Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR) Travel Position
Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Call Requirements:
- Minimum 1 weekday call per week
- Weekend call rotation
- On-call shifts Monday to Friday 3:30 PM – 7:00 AM, Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
Job Description
- Provide perioperative nursing care as a circulator in the Operating Room.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR technicians to ensure patient safety and care quality.
- Manage supplies, case timeliness, and communication with families.
- Update physician preference cards.
- Scrub and assist physicians during surgical procedures.
- Supervise personnel delivering patient care in the OR.
- Follow State Nurse Practice Act, AORN guidelines, and hospital policies.

- 6 operating rooms
- Approximately 250 procedures per month
- Patient ratio approximately 1:148
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Experience working with both adult and pediatric patients
- Experience in general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN), podiatry, plastics, endoscopy, trauma, and DaVinci robotic-assisted surgery
