Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Napa, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility Overview
- Acute Care Hospital
- 200 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- Free parking available
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Weekend shifts required
- Floating between similar units required
- Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager’s discretion
- Locals and first-time travel nurses accepted
- On-call requirement: Pending
- Guaranteed hours with facility able to call off once per two-week pay period
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Education verification (nursing degree) required
- NURSYS license verification required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug screening: 9-panel within 12 months (instant acceptable)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel nurses
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background)
Training and Competency Requirements
- Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Labor and Delivery nurses must have Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (AWHONN or NCC) or complete Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam
- ACLS certification may be required depending on unit/clinical track
- IV certification as applicable
Additional Notes
- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may float to other nearby facilities
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
- Skills checklist must be updated annually for applicable units
- Facility uses Epic for charting; Epic training modules required for access
This position offers an opportunity to work in a well-staffed acute care hospital with a supportive environment for travel nurses, including first-timers. The role requires strong clinical skills in Labor and Delivery nursing, adherence to facility policies, and completion of required certifications and health screenings.
