Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER

Location: Fayetteville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Call: None
  • Floating: May float within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Holiday Work:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
  • Orientation: Maximum of 7 days per contract; number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays may push start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Locals accepted at same rate

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Proficiency with Epic Electronic Health Record system

Licensure

  • State license verification must be current within 30 days prior to start
  • Annual NURSYS verification required within 30 days prior to start

Competency Exams (Aya requirements)

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs)
  • Competency Exam (required for Nursing by Aya only)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, ER, ICU, and related units)
    • Candidates allowed 3 attempts; failure on third attempt results in cancellation

Health & Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start (annual renewal not required)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
  • TB testing (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or negative chest x-ray if previously positive
  • Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB test result
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
    • Rubeola (Measles) - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Mumps - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Rubella - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or signed declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine highly recommended but not required

Background Checks & Documentation

  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including:
    • County and national criminal searches
    • Sex offender registry check
    • Education verification of related degree (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • Two clinical references required

Facility Policies

  • Candidate must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with prior travel experience seeking a travel contract in an ER setting with day shifts and a structured orientation and compliance process.
