Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry
Location
- Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type
- Travel contract
- Assignment length: 13 weeks
Shift
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekend hours as required by facility
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire week
Unit Information
- Unit: Medical 6B
- Number of beds: 32
- Patient types: Medical, medical telemetry, respiratory
- Patient ratios vary (day: 1:5-1:6, night: 1:6-1:7), not guaranteed
- Equipment used: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required prior to start (may be submitted after application)
- Experience and competence in drug titration
- Valid Driver's License
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
- Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality
- Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers
- Float on a rotational basis as needed
- Care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.; pinch up to 15 lbs.
- Occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Exposure to blood and body fluids
- Flexible scheduling may be required based on patient care needs
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Dress code: black scrubs only; other attire is not acceptable
- Guaranteed weekly hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
- Requests for time off must follow facility guidelines; limited holiday time off allowed
- Facility emphasizes safety, innovation, and patient satisfaction with recognized certifications in trauma and stroke care
